September 10, 2012

It has been a productive week at Supr Good Co. ramping up the manufacturing of 8,500 Slims for our amazing backers.

While we have some great updates planned for Slim, we wanted to also show off the gorgeous packaging. Developing packaging is always fun - especially when you get to team up with an amazing printer like Studio On Fire. These guys crank out stellar work.

Last week we finished letterpress printing our Slim packaging on a spectacular Heidelberg press. It is truly impressive to watch these Iron Beasts in action. The material we used for the packaging comes from the Gruppo Cordenons Paper Mill near Boston, MA called Wild White 166C. The Wild White 166C is a new paper stock from that mill and we are excited for Slim and our backers to be part of its debut run.

This week we will be die cutting and boxing up the packaging for shipment.

Cheers!

We spent a lot of time in the Supr Labs developing a custom weave of elastic specifically for the Slim wallet. We wanted a custom elastic that had just the right amount of friction against the cards and the fabric in your pants. We found the perfect length and width where the cards are gripped tightly by the elastic, but not so much that it would be hard to remove from your pocket or damage the cards. This is something we could not have achieved with stock elastic materials.
